  • Romans: Alive Inside [Romans: 08]

    21/04/2024 Duración: 33min

Romans 8: 5-13 // Brooks NesseIn order for something to truly die, it has to be cut off from its source of life. Which means we have to learn how to make room for the Spirit to access the deepest roots of our fleshly desires. We have to learn how to create space to be aware of where the Spirit is trying to access so we can keep up with him and let him in. And it’s going to take time, right? Change takes time. It takes time to kill this stuff that is deeply ingrained in us. And the Enemy is working to keep us living according to the flesh, so we have some resistance. What we have to do is discern where the Spirit is trying to work on us and rely on His presence and power in our daily, ordinary lives. The best practice for creating space for the Spirit to reach the roots of your heart is prayer. Remember, He lives in you. He speaks to you. So take time this week in prayer to ask him for guidance, to help you see what needs to be killed and where the source of life needs to be cut off. SERMON NOTES (YouVersion):

    14/04/2024 Duración: 36min

Romans 8:1-5  // Paul BrandesPlanet Fitness has an interesting tagline: “Welcome to the judgement free zone.” Where else can we find that? It’s rare, isn’t it? Much more common is constant criticism. Rampant negativity. Harsh condemnation. We see and experience this, both from others, and from ourselves. The truth is, some of us are our worst critics. And yet, in Romans 8:1, the Apostle Paul writes, “There is now NOW condemnation…” Incredible! How is this possible? Engage this passage with us to find out…SERMON NOTES:  https://bible.com/events/49240078PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new24.04.14

  • Romans: No, the Law Did Not Take Your Life [Romans: 05]

    24/03/2024 Duración: 38min

Romans 7:7-13 // Paul BrandesOne of the ironic dynamics of God’s law is that the more we know, the more we feel and recognize brokenness in our lives. With the grace of the gospel in Jesus, what value does God's law bring? Are we supposed to feel guilt and shame when we hear the law? What is God’s law for anyway if it's not very effective at restraining unrighteousness and injustice?Join us as we continue through the book of Romans where we’ll see the role of God’s law for us today.SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/49214772PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2542/responses/new24.03.24

Romans 7:1-6 // John DaigleWhat we belong to gives us an identity, sense of community, and even drastically affects our self-worth. Whether we find our belonging in sports, career, family, romantic relationships, or even religious observance, there are many good things that we are tempted to worship as ultimate things, but each leaves us restless and empty inside.Join us as we continue to see in the book of Romans why our ultimate belonging is to Jesus and how that is such good news for us. SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/49214771PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2553/responses/new24.03.17

Romans 6:12-14 // Charles Casco Life is full of paradoxes that make our life either run or crash, depending on how you look at it. Humans are full of contradictions and God knows it! 03/03/2024 Duración: 36min

Romans 6:1-11 // Jonathan NeefWe all love a good rescue story. But what happens after the rescue? Is that the end? Is there any more? Today we are in the book of Romans where the first five chapters have highlighted our need for a rescue. Today, beginning in chapter six, we will see that we were not only rescued from something but that we are rescued for something. Specifically, we have not only been rescued from sin and death but we are rescued for Life. And not just any life but life with Christ. What does that look like? Join us as we take a deeper look.SERMON NOTES (YouVersion):  https://bible.com/events/49214774PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new24.02.25

  • But What About Suffering? [But What About? 07]

    18/02/2024 Duración: 33min

Psalm 13:1-6//Taylor Fair“I used to go to church and pray, and then my best friend got sick and died… How can I believe in God when that happened?” My friend told me this in 7th grade, and it would be the first but not last time I would hear what I would later learn that theologians and philosophers call “the problem of evil”. Why does an all good and all powerful God permit evil and suffering? While God does not give us an answer to our “why” question, he does show us “how” to find meaning through suffering and experience that we are not alone. Join us as we learn how to lament our suffering with God through Psalm 13. SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://www.bible.com/events/49209495PRAYER REQUESTS:https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new24.02.18

  • But What About Christianity and Politics? [But What About? 06]

    11/02/2024 Duración: 33min

Matthew 22:15-22 // Brooks NesseHow should Christians relate to politics and the government? No doubt you have some negative examples of what Christians should NOT do, but what is the Christian calling in our political environment?Thankfully God’s word and Christians throughout history have wrestled through this very question. Join us as we continue to explore difficult questions aimed at the Christian faith and specifically seek clarity of faithful and fruitful presence in a politically heightened time. SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://www.bible.com/events/49205724PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2542/responses/new24.02.04

    04/02/2024 Duración: 40min

Matthew 5:27-30; Hebrews 10:22-23 // Bill GormanIf you are not a Christian and the Christian sex ethic has seemed brewsdespairing or if you’re a Christian who is wrestling with how to understand the Christian sex ethic, you’re not alone. What if this disorientation comes from something deeper?Join us as we walk through another frequent question raised in our world where the church can offer hope. SERMON NOTES (YouVersion):: https://www.bible.com/events/49198314PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new24.01.28 - Republished from Brookside

  • But What About Women? (But What About...? 03)

    28/01/2024 Duración: 39min

Regardless of your theological position or where you land on gender responsibilities within the home and in the church. Regardless, all of us should seek to avoid the mistreatment of women. All of us should seek to empower, develop, and learn from women and protect them from abuse. And if there are distortions of Christianity that have led to harm, we want to expose them for what they are. Distortions. Here’s what we need to remember: Mistreatment of women is always a distortion of God’s heart. Mistreatment of women is always a mistreatment of Scripture.Prayer Requests:https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2542/responses/new

  • But what about the trustworthiness of the Bible? 02

    21/01/2024 Duración: 34min

2 Timothy 3:12-17 // Jonathan NeefThis morning, I hope to help you see that the Bible is God’s word to you. That the claims of scripture are bold and beautiful and that we must trust and obey what God says. To do that, we are going to ask and try to answer three questions: What are the Claims of Scripture? How can I Trust Scripture? Why should I Obey Scripture? There is life in these pages because the Bible is the inspired word of God.Sermon Notes: https://bible.com/events/49198304 Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbDKEa29CIo24.01.21

  • But What About the Church? [But What About? 01]

    14/01/2024 Duración: 41min

Matthew 16: 13-18 // Tom NelsonThe church is a messy place with messy broken people. The church is also a healing community for the broken. A faith community where the power of the Gospel transforms lost causes into beloved children of God! Never are we a lost cause, never are we so broken we can not be made whole by Jesus. The church falls short and fails because she faces spiritual warfare. The church lives in the context of an invisible war.  Satan’s greatest fury is directed toward the church. I am not offering the church an excuse or giving the church a pass on its past and present failures. But I do want to ask a crucial question. Should we give up on the church because the church sometimes falls short and fails? Jesus declares an emphatic No!Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49193359 Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new24.01.14

  • Joseph [Christmas Through the Eyes of Faith 4]

    31/12/2023 Duración: 33min

Matthew 1:18-25 // John DaigleChristmas wasn’t welcome news to even the faithful…at first. Christmas in many ways disrupts our best laid plans. The question is NOT whether Christmas messes with our lives. The question IS how we show up when Christmas comes into our tidy lives. Join us as we look over the shoulders of someone who experienced the utter disruption of Christmas and still leaned in.
